Boss Babe Feature: Tejj Aduu

Tejj Aduu Fashion Blogger Winnipeg

Tejj Aduu is a Winnipeg fashion blogger and Instagrammer! She’ll be speaking about her passion and her journey with blogging at our next Boss Babe Pyjama Party on Feb | 22 |20, but we wanted to ask her a few questions beforehand to get to know the woman behind the blog.

How long have you been a blogger?

I’ve been a fashion blogger for 2 years! @tejjtheblogger will be 2 on The 14th of February.

What made you decide to get into fashion blogging?

I wanted to share my style with the world and show what African prints can do. I also wanted to spread love and positive vibes through fashion, my personality and style.

What resources did you use to help you get started?

Honestly, I just started! Lol. I did speak to a friend who was a photographer. We photographed a Valentine’s Day series and I posted them on Instagram. I learn a lot through social media (especially Instagram). Still learning!

What does success look like to you?

Success is achieving and winning in whatever I set my goals to. Doesn’t matter how small. It’s peace and happiness.

What’s one thing you’re proud of?

I’m very proud of building a strong following of people who not only follow me, but who trust my opinion enough to buy from the companies I collaborate with.

What are 3 things you’ve learned since becoming a blogger?

  1. You can keep pushing and moving but always remember that you come first!

  2. Nobody can do it like you. People follow you for a reason so why doubt yourself?

  3. As much as style is a personal thing, it’s very fluid so I’ve had to learn to be flexible with it

What are our thoughts on the importance of seeing black females represented in the blog and small business world?

It’s super important to me. I’m a black woman. I want my kids to grow up with role models who look like them. It’s important because of the kind of legacy and image we want black children to grow up with… showing them they are beautiful and stylish in their brown/black skin and nappy hair.

What are some of the struggles black bloggers and business owners may face that others don’t realize?

You can hardly find adequate representation of black women or women of colour among bloggers in mainstream media. Also, black businesses are always judged and limited to stereotypes.

Are you launching or working on anything new this year that you can tell us about?

Oh yes! I plan to shoot more style videos and vlogs this year. A little insight to my personal life.

Do you have any tips for other bloggers?

If you do not have a team, make sure you have a great support system you trust. Also, your needs come first so don’t let the internet rush you.

To hear more from Tejj Aduu, join us at our next Winnipeg Boss Babe Pyjama Party on Saturday February 22.
