Supporting women in business and fostering relationships

From photographers, to realtors, to writers, our Hustle + Charm community includes women across many industries. One of our newest members is Amber O’Reilly, a French-Canadian multilingual poet, spoken word artist, playwright and screenwriter, based in Winnipeg since 2013.

Amber’s poetry and critical writing have appeared in several publications and she has performed across Canada. Her French-language poetry collection Boussole franche won the 2021 Prix littéraire Rue-Deschambault and in 2021, she produced her first full-length play Annie et Tom du lundi au vendredi as a hybrid film-theatre work. She is also the author of several short theatre and film works.

An artist at heart, Amber lives with her husband and their dog. Her roots are French-Canadian from Ontario, Irish, Ukrainian, Norwegian and Algonquin. Her passion for languages has led her to speak French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and English.

Amber grew up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where she lived full-time until age 16. Since then, she has continued to uproot herself both physically and spiritually. In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, we asked Amber what the day means to her.

“International Women’s Day (and every day!) is a time to celebrate the female folks who have made a difference in my life, and to reaffirm my commitment to intersectional feminism. I want girls around the world to grow up with strong women in their lives and look forward to celebrating this day and their womanhood,” she says.

First up: a roundtable for photographers and videographers on March 23. On April 14, we’re hosting a roundtable for real estate professionals. Whether a realtor, mortgage broker, home stager or anything in between, you’re welcome to come out and meet other folks in the industry. Our roundtables are public events, and current members can register at a discounted rate.

Our Peer Mentorship + Mastermind Program is designed to provide members with the support they need to confidently make moves in business, share expertise and experiences to help support a fellow woman in business, and build long-lasting connections in the process. Deadline to apply is March 25.
